The purpose of this
rally is to tell congress and community leaders that we
oppose detainees being brough from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba to the
United States, and specifically to Northern Virginia. We as a nation
and as citizens of Northern Virginia need to stand shoulder to shoulder to prevent a
single detainee from entering this country.
Allowing these suspected terrorists onto U.S.
soil would be an insult to the servicemen who gave their
lives defending this country in the Global War on Terror, an insult to the innocent
victims of 9/11, and an insult to the families that continue to mourn. This rally will make a loud, unified statement to
our national and local leaders showing them that we will not turn our backs on our heroes, citizens,
and we will not allow our nation to be disgraced.
Video
teleconferencing can easily be used for detainee trials, just as it is
currently being utilized for immigration trials. This method will
allow
the government to host proceedings safely outside the U.S., achieving
the same results. Trying these detainees in Northern Virginia will put
lives at risk, interrupt quality of life, and cost local taxpayers
millions of dollars. This is a public safety risk that we can not
afford to take, and this is our chance to stand up as One Strong Nation and tell our
government officials that we will not be disrespected.
If you want to lend your voice, your wise counsel, and your passion to
preserve this great nation's integrity and dignity,
get involved and let's begin the process of resurrecting our image as a
bold and proud people.
